Mace deputy chairman Mark Holmes will step down from the contractor’s executive board in December.
Holmes was appointed as deputy chairman in 2020, having previously led Mace’s property consultancy arm.
He said: “It has been a privilege to play my part in the development of this great company.
“Loyalty is an underused word these days, but it has been great fun and I leave the business with only fond memories – and look forward to seeing it continue to prosper in the future.”
Holmes joined in 1992 as a project manager on the build of a corporate headquarters for British Airways.
Over three decades he has been influential in the firm’s expansion, launching initiatives including its cost and commercial services, as well as facilities management provision, its entry into the public sector and an expansion into North America.
In his current role he is responsible for human resources, social responsibility, marketing and communications.
Holmes has been the board sponsor for Mace’s climate-change commitment; led the diversity and inclusion committee; and chaired the firm’s people and talent board.
He has also been co-chair of Infrastructure Exports: UK, a partnership between industry and government to coordinate bids for global infrastructure projects. He will continue in this role until next April.
Holmes remains a shareholder and will continue to be chair of the board of Mace Operate, the company’s facilities-management arm. He will go on to head up the Mace Foundation from December, replacing Dennis Hone, former chief executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority.
